Cable TV Channel Reaches Out to Student Producers

In order to foster student involvement and broaden the appeal and range of content on Channel 16, Niles North and Niles West are each adding five Student Production Tech Leaders to the production team.

Student Production Tech Leaders must be available five hours per week to create, record, and edit content for the District’s PEG (Public, Educational, or Government) cable access channel.

Seen in Skokie, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove, and Niles on Comcast cable (channel 16 or digital channel 86-2) and RCN (channel 21) cable in Skokie, the channel serves as a window through which the communities we serve may see what opportunities and experiences the District offers to our students.

The addition of Student Production Tech Leaders will create an expanded team of producers to cover sports, arts, school life, special events, academic accomplishments, news, and original programming ideas. The programming these students create will be available on TV and on the web, so it is important that they take ownership of the quality of their work to reflect the quality of the activities here at District 219. Leadership and creativity are must-have qualities for student producers.

If you know of any students with a creative eye and a desire to learn real video production values and techniques, please share the link below with them and encourage them to apply for the position!
